Q: Who is Eastlakes Athletics Centre?
A: We are a family friendly athletics club that aspires to make athletics an exciting and social event for the whole family whilst striving for all our athletes to reach their full potential. Our emphasis is on fun, fitness and personal improvement. Children can join with any level of skill or fitness. Athletes are given plenty of encouragement to achieve personal bests.

Q: Who can participate in Athletics?
A: Anyone between the ages of 3 and 103 can register. Athletes will compete in either Little Athletics (3-12), Juniors (13-19), Opens or Masters.

Parents, grandparents and friends can also be involved by helping with the various events.

*Tiny Tots - Children must be 3 years of age before they can register and participate.

Q: How do I register?
A: Registrations are OPEN NOW. https://www.revolutionise.com.au/eastlakesathle/registration

Once the online process is completed, simply turn up to the Saturday comp days to obtain your age patch and bib. Please note a copy of a birth certificate or other ID is required for all new registrations (not required for returning athletes)

Q: How much does it cost?
Registration costs for the 2024/25 season are posted on our Registration Tab.

Q: Can I use the Active Kids Voucher?
A: YES, definitely! You can apply the code when registering if you are eligible. Get your Active Kids Voucher Here!

Q: When does the season start?
A: Saturday 7th September for our brand new athletes. ALL (new and returning) athletes will commence Saturday 14th September. OPEN group will start each Saturday at 8:00am, U14’s and above from 8:15am, U11 and U12 vary between 8:15 and 8:45, and ALL other athletes will commence at 8:45am. Refer the Weekly Program tab and regular social media posts for start times.

Q: Where are the weekly event held?
A: Baxter Field, Swan Street, Marks Point, NSW, 2280

Q: How long does each Saturday session run for?
A: Most groups are normally finished around 10:30 - 11am (sometimes earlier)

Q: How long does the season run?
A: The season finishes in March each year. There is a short break over Christmas period. Check out our Calendar page for important dates.

Q: What events do the athletes do?
A: Tiny Tots do some short races up to 200m, long jump and other play training, Under 6s add discus and shot put plus up to 300m races. This progression continues with longer races as athletes get older up to 3000m for 13+ other events such as high jump, javelin, triple jump and hurdles are all introduced at various ages.

Q: Are there training nights and is it compulsory?

Eastlakes Training Squad meets every second Wednesday afternoon from 4:30 - 5:30. Training is NOT compulsory and will normally start in October. Keep an eye on Facebook and Instagram for details and start dates.

Q: Does my child or do I need to have athletics experience to join?
A: Absolutely not. Our points system is designed to reward participation and improvement. We encourage ALL athletes to do their best at all times regardless of starting ability.

Q: Can Eastlakes athletes represent the club at other competitions?
A: Yes. Eastlakes Athletic Centre members can compete in a variety of competitions run by other clubs. Athletes from Under 7 up can also compete in Little A’s Zone, Regional (Under 8+) and State (Under 9+) competitions and we have an option available to Athletics NSW events. Q: Do you need help on Saturday mornings?
A: YES we certainly do! Eastlakes Athletics Centre is run purely by volunteers! There is a wide variety of jobs you can do to assist running the Saturday morning meets. Many of these jobs do not require an extensive knowledge of athletics or need experience in managing large groups of children. Such jobs include timing races, handing out finishing tokens, cooking a bbq, assisting in the canteen, measuring distances, recording times, sweeping long jump pits etc. Age group parents/guardians are rostered on to help set-up and pack-up each weekend. Each group will assist approximately 3 times throughout the season.

Q: Do I need to purchase special equipment for my child?
A: All athletic equipment and implements are provided by Eastlakes Athletic Centre. You may like to invest in track and field shoes or spikes (Under 11+) - but talk to us first!

Q: What age group will my child or I be in?
A: Check out the Registration Ages chart available on the Little Athletics NSW and Athletics NSW websites. The registration process will automatically place your child or you in the correct age group.

Q: Do athletes need to wear an uniform?
A: Yes, all registered athletes must wear an approved Eastlakes Athletic Centre uniform (mandatory top with black shorts) when competing in Athletics competitions. You can view and order uniforms at via Sports Magic:. Please note the tops MUST be purchased from the supplier (or second hand through our second hand uniforms facebook page). Short/ briefs can be purchased from the supplier, or plain black shorts can be purchased elsewhere.

Q: How do I get involved with the committee?
A: We hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM) every year with our presentation day. At the AGM all roles are vacated and are available for nomination and election.
